I-Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) namuhla isimemezele ukushona kwengcwenga yabo endala i-alpha chimpanzee.

Esitatimendeni esikhishwe yi-UWEC, uMqondisi Omkhulu uJames Musinguzi uthe:

“Ngosizi olukhulu nosizi, i-UWEC (Uganda Wildlife Education Centre) ngalokhu imemezela ukushona kukaZakayo, imfene yesilisa eneminyaka engu-54 ubudala, osehlale e-UWEC iminyaka engu-42. Imiphumela yokuqala iphakamisa ukuthi wanqotshwa i-Chronic Gastroenteritis. Ngenxa yokuguga kwakhe, wayengenwa kalula yizifo ezingosomathuba. Sicela uhlanganyele nathi njengoba sibungaza impilo yale mfene yodumo eyake yaphila njengendoda evelele futhi yakhulisa umndeni wezimfene e-UWEC. Ukhulise izimfene ezimbili zama-alpha, uMatooke, owahola leli qembu kwaze kwaba ngu-2013, no-Aluma, owathatha izintambo ngo-2013 kuze kube namuhla. Sengathi umphefumulo wakhe ungalala ngokuthula.”

Zakayo was perhaps the primates' Picasso having accomplished works of art that sold for up to $25 a piece, towards the cause of saving the chimpanzees in the wild and at the Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Institute on Ngamba island located on Lake Victoria.
